Felling and Extraction

We provide a bespoke and personal service, providing felling, extraction and all associated woodland management services. Our jobs have ranged in size from a single tree right up to full woodland managment and planting through to clear felling. We can also sell the felled timber for clients too, providing a full service without having to use multiple contractors.

For low impact work on small or sensitive sites we use a dedicated forwarder for extraction. This allows for greater efficiency by removing larger timber lengths with low ground impact. Forwarding is done when ground conditions are suitable - thereby minimising the requirement for reinstatement and reducing and potential damage to soil structure.

Wherever possible mechanise the felling process, with the use of a grapple saw mounted on an excavator. This allows us to fell trees (especially dangerous Ash) from the safety of a guarded cab and greatly increases efficiency of work thereby reducing the cost to clients. The equipment is light weight and low impact - minimising soil disturbance and damage to remaining trees.

Having received a LEADER grant in 2018 we have upgraded our equipment. The mainstays of our fleet are a low impact excavator based harvester and small self propelled forwarder. These allow us to be safe, efficient and economical. This equipment allows us to harvest larger plots quicker than we could before, whilst still maintaining the high standards and low impact philosophy we started with.

We are fully qualified to undertake all operations, along with full public liability insurance to ensure peace of mind.
